Back Seat to Justice edition by Tim Baker Literature Fiction eBooks
"Back Seat to Justice" is excellent. I'm a big fan of the Robert B. Parker "Spenser" novels and this reminded me of those but with plenty of differences to keep the story fresh. There were plenty of twists and turns. A couple of times I was sure I had things all figured out and the action veered in a completely unexpected (but plausible!) direction. For example, halfway through the book I was sure the percentage indicator on my Kindle was wrong because the detective, Steve Salem, had everything all figured out and the case was over. Then a sudden twist took things in an every more interesting direction. I loved it. That happened a couple of times and really kept me engaged and reading.
I know it's cliche to say one couldn't put a book down, but it's literally true for me in this case. I was on an airplane flight and watching a good movie (Fury) but wanted to read while eating a meal on the plane as I hate chewing with earplugs in. I figured I'd read for 10 minutes and then back to Fury. Nope. I read the whole book and only went back to watching Brad Pitt once I'd finished and was sure whodunit.
This was the first Tim Baker novel I read, but it won't be the last. As soon as I finished "Back Seat to Justice," I purchased the rest of his books for my Kindle (iPad). I was very pleased to see that Ike--a supporting character in this novel--appears in other books, including having a collection of short stories featuring him. I'm looking forward to learning more about him. I'm also hoping the lead character in this novel, Steve Salem, reappears in a long series of novels of his own.

Back Seat to Justice edition by Tim Baker Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
A good mystery should be one that is easy to pick up- whether waiting in the Verizon store or on line at the drive through. Tim Baker hits it all- great characters, smooth story line and plain old fun- enjoyed it very much
This is my first book read by this author. It was fast paced, full of action a touch of illegal but we'll deserved justice, and the best for last... what goes around comes around for those in real life that think dog fighting is a sport...the dog won against the human. I will read the sequel I'd book in the series.
Greed, betrayal and murder with a bit of homespun revenge thrown into the mix. Add a down and out PI,a mystery female, a marriage built on lies, toss in a few wise guys drop them all down into Paradise and Tim Baker has one heck of a story.
Back Seat to Justice grabbed me at the opening. Not only did it grab me but when I thought it was finished - Mr. Baker exploded from the gate again.
I didn't want it to end. And when it did, I wanted to go and find the next one. He writes in a way that I love leaving the reader wanting more.
Tim Baker remember that name- he will haunt you!
When Florida0based PI Steve Salem is hired to tail a cheating husband, and the man’s killed right before his eyes, you would think things couldn’t get any worse. You would be horribly wrong. For Salem, things just go downhill from there in Tim Baker’s Back Seat to Justice.
A funny at times mystery that takes up one blind trail and down another blind alley as Salem blunders and meanders into more trouble than one could ever imagine, including old murders, stolen identities, and a burning thirst for seeing that justice is done.
What a great way to end the summer!
This was an entertaining little read. The story has great character development, as always in Mr. Baker's books. This story could use some minor editing and a little polish, but it was a great and suspenseful little crime novel that's even more fun if you live in the area where it is set. Good job!
Back Seat to Justice had me glued to my reader, just so I could see where the writer was going with this story.
This story of Steve the my mind engaged all through the book. I am usually a romance, suspense and drama kind of reader, but the characters, and storylines had me hooked. This book started out with a Ex cop turned PI, working a case of cheating husband. Little did i remember the subtle way the true killer was written into the book.... I really couldn't understand the partnership formed between Steve and Val.... justice in this case took a backseat, still can't wrap my mind around that but it was very interesting reading you work it out.
Not enough romance for me but I really enjoyed the drama and the story settings were great. Each person story fit right in, with very little reading drag. Complexed, twist and turns If i need a PI I would look him up....
I liked the story line and characters. It is nice to read a book for a change that isn't full of steamy sex and bad language. I loved the way the author dealt with the owner of the pit bulls. It was poetic justice! Those scenarios really bothered me since I am an animal lover so the bad guy got what he deserved. I am looking forward to reading another one of Tim Baker's books.
